working hard—or hardly working?

went to nicholasville 3 (3!!!!!) times today to deliver/fix/replace a computer system. also had to take care of my windshield…ok…

long story begins:
i have had a crack in my winshield for a while now. it was actually starting to chip and flake glass, so i figured it would be prudent to get it fixed before it shattered on me while i was driving…no problem, i set a date to go get it replaced…in the state of kentucky it is the insurance company's JOB to cover (or at least reimburse labor done on ) the windshield, regardless of insurance type…if a person has insurance, they are covered

or so i thought…you know… state law and stuff…..

so i take the car in..and with my impeccable timing, the day i was going to take my car in (er, the night before) there was a nasty hailstorm, and all the shops in town were booked for two weeks straight–but i find one, no problem, right? they take care of the glass, i show my insurance, everything is hunkey-dorey.
(important to the story: the lady behind the counter at the glass place marks my windshield replacement cause as hail damage)
the following monday i get a call from the glass place saying that the insurance company refuses to cover it, so im, like, wtf??? i call the insurance place, i get the run-around, but ultimately SOMEBODY in "loss reporting" tells me to pay the windshield place, and take the paid reciept to a field office, where the field office will fax the reciept to some other place, and they will cut me a reimbursement check, since i had the glass replaced at a place that was not on the in-sewer-ants' list……im a little peeved, but still okeh at this point. so i make a day to do all this (which was today)

so i pay the bill, and take the reciept to a field office, and they look at me like im from another planet….wtf?? i did what i was supposed to do!! why are these people not honoring their end of the deal?? but i make a little fuss, and they say they will take care of it. (at this point im a little irritated).
i make the final two trips to nicholasville in the time between..and at about 4 i get a call from the insurance company telling me they still will not pay for it, because we dont have proper coverage on my car for that kind of thing…and i said wtf? state law dictates that you MUST replace it…as in–if you do buisiness in the state of kentucky, you must abide by kentucky law! and then the woman on the line started getting indignant….that taking root, i put on my customer service mode and basically tell her that i am already irritated by the situation, and if she didnt have anything CONSTRUCTIVE to tell me, then i have no need of speaking to her, goodbye ~click~
needless to say, i was pretty pissed at this point.
i called up the main office of the insurance company and registered the first customer service complaint i have ever made (and ever hope to make) against the local field office, and the main office was less than helpful!!

now im 277.74 in the hole.
if you ever have to change insurance companies…never EVER EVER EVER use Grange Casualty Mutual. they suck.

if you do use Grange…may the Gods have mercy on your soul.
