Consistently, weekly since September or so, I dream of giving birth. I’m sure it has more to do with my class observation schedule than anything else, although 2 weeks ago I dreamt of giving birth to a couple of cats.

It’s never painful or unexpected, fairly consistently I start to waddle in my dream (wherever I am, whatever I’m doing then) and I reach down and feel that the head’s already crowning. I’m usually standing or squatting, so I bear down with one hand bracing and one hand under to catch. Last night it was two in non-logical succession: one complete birth with placenta, and then another a day later. The second came out with a cowl and placental abruption. It’s always a good thing, I’m always happy to do it, but the babies I give birth to in my dreams are rarely mine.
